Why Bet College Football?
College football has been around for over 100 years. Betting on sports has been around since the early 1800s when horseracing was the sport most gamblers risked their money on. College football wagering is almost the same as that of NFL wagering except there are more teams and higher point spreads. Because of the large number of teams, the choices are nearly limitless when it comes to choosing a game to bet on during the months of September to January.
Football Betting Tips
In college football, there are terms you need to be familiar with to give you the best opportunity to win. Common terms used are money line, point spread, over/under, parlays, teasers and more. Once you become familiar with these terms then it is very easy to wager on college football.
Money Line
The money line is the amount of money you have to put down to win $100 if you choose a team that is favored if you are not using the point spread. If you choose the underdog without using their point spread then the money line tells you how much you will win by wagering $100.
Point Spread
The point spread is the number of points, goals or runs that one team is favored to win over their opponent. The point spread tries to make the two teams even so determining a winner is not quite so easy. If you choose the team with the minus sign (-7) in front of the number then you are choosing the favorite and your team must win by more than 7 points. If you choose the team with the positive points (7) then you are choosing the underdog and your team can win the game outright or lose by less than 7 points and you will win the bet.
Over/Under
The over/under is based on the total combined point total between the two teams playing. It is based on previous encounters, team rankings, common opponents, weather conditions among others among other factors. If the total is 58 and you believe the two teams will combine for 62 points then you would choose OVER. As long as the two combined for 59 or more points, you would win the wager. The same holds true if you chose UNDER and the teams scored less than 58 points combined.
Parlays, Teasers and Pleasers
These are different bets you can make to increase or decrease the amount of winnings due to the percentages increasing or decreasing in your favor. Parlays are usually bets that combine two sports and you must win the bet on both in order to win the wager. Teasers and pleasers increase or decrease the point spread for the favorite or underdog and your winnings are adjusted depending on which way you choose to beat.
